Since its formation, the school has worked for and trained organisations like the RNLI, the UK Environment Agency, local Authorities and local Harbour Authorities. It also provides RYA sail training to local colleges in support of their maritime courses. Whether you are a complete beginner who wants to sample what sailing and power boating has to offer or you are an experienced sailor looking for the more advanced Yachtmaster courses, North Wales Power and Sail is the school of choice.
And if courses are not really for you experience the beauty of North Wales and Anglesey from the sea. Set on the edge of Snowdonia National Park our location provides you with a great opportunity to experience the great outdoors on the water and is also an ideal way for spotting the vast amounts of marine and sea life that North Wales has to offer. It’s also a great way to learn about the fantastic history and nautical heritage of the area.

RYA Power Boat Instructor
After more than 30 years working in the Fire Protection Industry in 2018 I started working as a power and sailing instructor for Frank Ratcliffe the then principal and founder of North Wales Power and Sail and in 2019 took over as School Principal. Following a period working for the British Antarctic Survey in 2021/22 on the South Atlantic Island of South Georgia where I worked as lead boating officer I returned to the UK to take over as Chief Instructor for all the power and sail courses.

After retirement from the Police where he was a motor bike instructor Andy established Wilco Sea School based in Y Felinheli. For 15 years he was the school Principal and Chief Instructor until in 2018 when he became a freelance sailing instructor/examiner and power boat instructor.
